Poem

"Spasmodic Rhapsody"
  by teri louise kelly
on the ballroom floor
in the den of literary iniquity
they read knee jerk reactions
passing out bouquets of soliloquies
hand wringing homilies
panhandling yesterdays adjectives
in the name of the father/the son
fraternity
individuality;
& they all mime in french

homaging the a la natural
the shape the silhouettes make
at the resurrection of the masquerade
all for one; in the name of the holy
ghost writers anonymous collective

the short change skeletons
dance the iconoclastic abrasion dance
before they fuck
on the dirty white line

& my mother said i could never go back
never go back
never go back
never go back
to god.
see . . . the cadence of the spasmodic rhapsody
is lost in the search
for equality
